I am Sarah Zabel, and I am an Independent candidate for Congress in Idaho’s first district.

Some quick facts about me:

• I am a veteran with more than 31 years of active military service, a retired Air Force major general.

• My allegiance is to Idaho, not to any political party. I was a Republican throughout my career but left the party when I retired in 2018 because I disagree with the party’s direction, especially with its MAGA philosophy. The military is apolitical, though: you don’t tell people what you are and they don’t tell you. We just worked our jobs and the issues. That’s how I know there is a lot of common ground among us all, and we can work together to move our country forward.

• We can solve our problems; we’ve solved equally challenging problems before. We know how to do this.
